Hi All,
Show your support for Sam and the Tesco campaign on social media:
Ilford South MP, Sam Tarry, has asked Sidiq Khan to call in the Tesco Application which was approved by Redbridge Council against a wall of opposition. Lots of people who don't understand the impact of these developments, are lobbyists for the developers trolls have been quite vocal on social media. Please show your support by logging into social media and posting your comments.
Some basic points to note:
- It is damning that the council has refused to provide a cumulative impact report on the area for the area where thousands of new flats are proposed along the crossrail corridor. Why would they refuse this?
- Historically in Redbridge it has been shown that the housing will not be "affordable" to those that need them so it is pointless to argue that "people need homes".
- The development will increase road traffic which is already bad
- Pollution has been shown to be at unhealthy levels even before the developments were approved
- There is insufficient health infrastructure to cope
- Public transport will not provide enough capacity at peak times
- Green space is already at a premium (per head) and these developments will lower that ratio dramatically
- The trolls are arguing that the residents are NIMBYS (not in my back yard) and we should build where there is "brownfield" land like Tesco. If anyone comes to the area they will clearly see it is a densely populated residential area and not "brownfield". 16 new towers + at least 10 others will strain space and resources.
- Limited parking inside developments will hugely impact current residents as the council cannot stop people buying cars or where they park them
