Great NEWS. ON Motorhome and Caravanning Magazine site on Facebook just read this: 8 weeks trial of providing free camping at PORT HEDLAND has been a success. They were blown away with $100,000 extra spent in the communiry each week. This confirms what I have been trying to get across last few days on another site Whingers of Caravan an Camping. I was shot down as being tight for not wanting to spend $40 average in caravan park fees in W.A when I would prefer to be in a freedom camp as I dont need most stuff caravan Parks offer including electricity. Port Hedland has decided to keep ON GOING. What a wonderful finding that freedom camping has worked in drawing in the people instead of passing through. Time and time again freedom campers state that they spend in towns that support them. This proves it doesnt it. All busineses benefit by extra in the till. GOOD ON YOU PORT HEDLAND RVers in that area check it out and spend up. Towns that dont support us and arent welcoming dont spend a cent in that town and pass around the word to bypas them. We have great power use it. Love towns that welcome us feels very homely. After all those of us that live in our RV's or most of the year IT IS OUR HOME. And whenever we pull up anywhere we PULL OUT OUR STEP switch on the gas bottle press the button on automatic satellite dish on roof and we are at home again. Sit down and start reading all the brochures u collected from Visitors Info Centre with things to see and do in town over a cold beer or glass of wine. Doesnt get much better in a nomads life.
