Happy New Year to all our supporters and we hope you’ve had an enjoyable festive season. Crowdfunder UK have extended the deadline for our crowd funding campaign, to produce a documentary film about Govan Graving Docks, to 26th January 2017. So far we have almost £1,700 pledged - approx a quarter of our £6,500 target. We do need to raise the full amount to get any funds though and still need an additional £4,800 to be pledged – less than 60p for everyone who has signed the petition. Put another way – if everyone who has already pledged can get three friends to match the amount they have pledged then that will bring us to our target. http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/govan-graving-docks-documentary Owners of the graving docks, New City Vision, have recently had their planning application for the North Kelvin Meadow site in the West End of Glasgow rejected by the Scottish Government (following a long running planning saga and strong community campaign against their plans) after initially being approved by Glasgow City Council. We believe this will impact significantly on their wider business – including their plans for Govan Graving Docks. Our impression for some time had been that they intended to reinvest profits from the (far less risky in investment terms) proposed North Kelvin development into their intended development of the graving docks. We are still preparing for a planning application for housing on the graving docks to be submitted by New City Vision this year and will issue guidance on objecting to the application if and when it is lodged. We are also seeking answers from Glasgow City Council over how much longer they will allow New City Vision to sit on the graving docks site in its current condition without pursuing compulsory purchase action.
