I intend to continue to keep up the pressure on Glasgow City Council to cover the cost of Aaron's transport, because his transport is a part of his education costs. Without this funding I will find it very difficult to continue to transport him. During the original court case Glasgow City Council stated that it would cost them £44 000 per year to pay for a taxi and an escort to transport Aaron to and from The Craighalbert Centre. In order to reduce these costs and save the Council money, my partner and I volunteered to transport Aaron ourselves if they would reimburse our petrol costs and the costs of running the car. This has saved the Council roughly £70 000 over the past two years. We were not legally obliged to do this, but we chose to do this in order to make all costs reasonable for the Council. Now they are withdrawing all funding towards Aaron's transport costs despite the fact that they would have to pay for his transport if he was in a Glasgow City Council School.
