THE ARCHES FORCED INTO ADMINISTRATION - VENUE CLOSED WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT

Hello all,
I'm deeply saddened to report that the Arches released a statement today, announcing that due to the recent curtailment of the licence hours, they have been forced to appoint administrators to the organisation.
http://www.thearches.co.uk/news/2015/06/press-release-the-arches-left-with-no-other-choice-than-to-go-into-administration
This means that despite the efforts Glasgow Life, Creative Scotland and the organisation itself, the management have been unable to find a way that the Arches can continue operating under its current model. For now, the building is closed and upcoming events are cancelled. There are hopes that the administrators will be able to salvage some elements of the operation, but it seems inevitable that unless something drastic happens, one of the UK's leading arts spaces and clubs will be closed for good.
We remain committed to helping The Arches in any way we can, and will post updates of further developments. The public outcry over this decision is justifiably huge - we hope that we will be able to mobilise supporters to protest against Glasgow City Council and Police Scotland's actions which have caused this situation, and will keep you informed of activity through this petition.
The actions of Police Scotland and Glasgow City Council are draconian, nonsensical and will have a devastating impact on the city's cultural life, the livelihoods of the venue's 133 staff members and Glasgow's worldwide reputation for nightlife and performance. We urge you to continue doing all you can to save the venue - write to your MPs, MSPs and Councillors to voice your outrage, join our protests which will be announced shortly and continue sharing the petition on social media, using #SaveTheArches and #TeamArches.
-Callum
