Thank you so much for signing the Quiet!Glacier petition! Right now, Glacier is full of thousands of visitors hoping to see and hear this naturally majestic place, in peace and quiet. Yesterday, scenic helicopter tours were non-stop, serving just a handful of people, destroying the natural soundscape for everyone else. We wanted to give you a progress report on the petition. So far, with your help, signatories from 26 countries and all 50 states have signed on, leaving more than 1793 comments about the importance of restoring the quiet in Glacier National Park, approaching 12,000 signatures. Our goal is to get this issue on a world stage - and halt the scenic helicopter tours in Glacier in honor of the NPS Centennial. Glacier is unique not just in the kind of Park it is, but also in the route that could be taken to achieve restoration of the natural soundscape. Its true there is a lot of noise in daily news for an issue like this to be heard, but the more we can express the importance of our need for quiet places like Glacier, the closer we get to being able to think without noise and find solutions to other problems too.
