UPDATE: Spielberg Returns to Creative Oversight — Bay in Talks to Direct

There has been another major development for the future of live-action Transformers.

Steven Spielberg is returning as executive producer with a more active role overseeing the franchise's creative direction alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Jason Fuchs has written the new movie, which will take place in the present day, while Michael Bay is reportedly in early talks to return as director.

This makes the goals of our petition even more important.

The next creative team now has an opportunity to combine the spectacle and excitement of the earlier movies with the stronger character focus demonstrated by Bumblebee.

Our request remains simple:

Clearly establish the continuity.
Keep characterization consistent.
Make the Transformers genuine main characters.
Build a long-term story instead of repeatedly reinventing it.
Honor Peter Cullen's legacy as Optimus Prime.

We are also asking Paramount to clarify whether this new present-day movie continues the Bumblebee/Rise of the Beasts storyline or represents another continuity.

Either approach can work.

What matters is clarity and consistency.

If Michael Bay ultimately returns, we hope the filmmakers preserve the enormous spectacle he helped establish while avoiding the continuity problems and underdeveloped Cybertronian characters that affected several earlier installments.

Spielberg's increased creative involvement makes this a genuine opportunity for a stronger balance between heart, character and spectacle.

Please help us make that message visible by signing the petition and sharing it with other Transformers fans.
