Petition updateGive the Vietnam Blue Water Navy Veterans their presumptive rights.I'll Bet You Thought It's Over
The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Association

Apr 27, 2016
We are at 78.419 as of this moment. Some of the latest developments are the VA has made it even harder for Blue Water Navy Veterans to obtain compensation and health benefits by declaring all Vietnam Harbors as "Blue Water". This goes against the intent of the court order in Gray vs. McDonald. And again another slap in the face to both the House and Senate Committees on Veterans Affairs.
The VA has kept the public in the dark regarding "expert reports on the Camp Lejeune water contamination. It is reported that the compensation and health benefit rate is declining.
Veterans Groups Sue VA for Withholding Information Demanded by Veterans Poisoned by Camp Lejeune’s Toxic Water
(Wash., D.C.)—Today Vietnam Veterans of America, along with The Few, The Proud, The Forgotten, filed suit under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to compel the Department of Veterans Affairs to produce records on the Camp Lejeune Subject Matter Expert (SME) program. The VA created the SME program in 2012 to evaluate disability compensation claims. Since that time, the public has filed numerous requests for information on the SME program, but VA has largely ignored such requests.
The scandals on Veterans treatment, hidden and shredded records, keeps growing, despite the Secretary of the VA touting great improvements in the management of the VA.
So where do we go from here? What we need is another shot in the arm from our Veterans Service Organizations. If you are a member of any of these organizations please let them know that you want this petition disseminated amongst the rank and file for the purpose of collecting signatures. The American Legion, VFW, IAVA, DAV etc., do endorse the bills in Congress but so far have been reluctant to endorse our petition. Also if you are a member of AARP, who has a huge Veteran base, send them the same message.
Signatures are strength, signatures are powerful. Let's get a million for the "Gipper".
