Big news ! But we need the Government to tell parents!

Hey everyone,

Some big news ! Thanks to your pressure, the Government responded to the media and also released guidance last night which says “Parents will not be fined for non-attendance at this time, and schools and colleges will not be held to account for attendance levels. Schools and colleges should continue to inform social workers where children with a social worker do not attend.”

This is reassuring.

BUT this information is hidden deep within the guidance. Not all parents will know it is there. It is not in the main 50 page document on reopening society. There will be parents out there who don’t know they have this right. That’s why I’m asking for your help.

1. Will you submit a question to the press briefings here?

I have submitted the following “You released guidance on Monday evening on schools potentially reopening in June. Can you publicly confirm that parents have the right to opt-out of sending their children if they feel it is too early, without facing repercussions of fines or otherwise?”

2. Will you write to your MP here tonight and ask them to raise this as a question in PMQs tomorrow?

- Mention that you are a constituent who has signed Change.org/WhenSchoolsOpen along with almost half a million people

- You would like the Government to assure parents that they have a choice

Please could you leave a comment on this update on if you took these actions (and your MP) so I know how many people have asked.

Thank you for making this happen.

P.s I have also spoke to BBC 5 Live this morning about parents having the right to know. Please retweet if you can,
