With the 'HEARTbeats' Twilight Market happening in Kuranda on Saturday 11th December 2021, isn't this the perfect opportunity for QLD Minister of Transport Mark Bailey and QLD Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to start subsidised public rail for locals?
Kuranda Scenic Rail have offered a 50% discount (advertised on their website till the 10th December), but most who have signed this petition would agree that this is still not affordable to locals. APT Kuranda still maintain that empty trains going up and down the line multiple times a day is not feasible, let alone environmentally friendly, and that empty seats should be offered to locals in the future.
There is need for two separate prices, an affordable one for locals, and one for tourists. This is what the QLD TMR should be writing in their lease. Currently they are supporting the disenfranchisement and lack of autonomy for young people, their families and the elderly who also cannot afford these prices.
QLD TMR refuse to see this as a method to get people off the Kuranda Range and the Barron River Bridge and we would like to know... WHY?
Your ongoing continued support for this issue is appreciated, even if you only do it to save the Cassowaries currently in danger on the Kuranda Range!
Please keep sharing and make your government aware of this petition.
Stay Safe and hopefully we will arrive at our destination! APT Kuranda (FB)
