Be the Miracle.  Be the Cure.  Act Now to Save Lives!

We lose too many patients every year whose lives could have been saved by a blood stem cell, bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant.

Typically, patients diagnosed with blood cancers (e.g., leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplasia, multiple myeloma), severe blood diseases like sickle cell anemia & certain immune deficiency diseases can benefit from a transplant and in many cases, be cured.

This petition provides a cost-effective template to diversify donor registries worldwide.

If you have not yet signed our petition to diversify the U.S. stem cell/marrow donor registry, please sign & share our petition now at https://www.change.org/healthequity

The Cure Is In You!

If you are between the ages of 18 to 60 & have not yet registered to be donor, please do so now at https://www.aadp.org/learn/homekit/  Registration costs are covered by a grant for those who are ages 18 to 44.

The Need for Donors*

Thousands of people diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia and lymphoma, sickle cell and other life-threatening diseases need a blood stem cell, bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant in order to live.  They depend on Be The Match Registry® to find a matching donor.

Finding A Match: The Basics*

For a successful transplant, a patient needs a matching donor. Seventy percent (70%) of patients cannot find a matching donor within their family.  These patients will depend on the Registry to help find them a donor.  Special testing determines whether a patient and a donor are a good match.

Race & Ethnicity Matter*

Because the markers used in matching are inherited, patients are more likely to match someone from their own race or ethnicity. Adding more blood stem cell, marrow and umbilical cord donors from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds to the Be The Match Registry® increases the likelihood that patients will find the match they need.

Your heritage can make all the difference.  If you are from one of the following communities, you are especially encouraged to register as a blood stem cell/bone marrow donor or donate umbilical cord blood upon delivery:

Black & African American
American Indian & Alaska Native
Asian (which includes East, Southeast & South Asians)
Native Hawaiian & Other Pacific Islander
Hispanic & Latinx
Multiple Race
