July is African American Bone Marrow Awareness Month. 70% of patients do not have a matching family stem cell/bone marrow donor.  Black patients have only a 23% likelihood of finding a donor match.  We must do better.  Increasing diversity on the stem cell/bone marrow donor registry means increasing the odds.

1 out of every 13 African American babies is born with the sickle cell trait.
