Yesterday, President Biden signed a historic stimulus bill. You probably already know about the one-time $1,400 stimulus check coming to most Americans. But did you also know that the government will be sending families up to $300 per child every month until the end of the year, beginning as soon as July.

This is what we’ve been asking for: recurring checks that we can depend on. Families all over the United States will be given a set amount each month that they can plan on! This means families can count on money to help them afford basic needs like food, rent, and health care.

The problem is, it’s not for everyone. Individuals without children are still deeply affected by this pandemic, and recurring stimulus payments would help them – and all of us – tremendously.  It’s a big win, but we have to look forward. In total, there’s been more than $1 trillion of direct relief, in large part because we raised our voices. We can’t stop now.
