The local community in North Cardiff has campaigned for over twelve years to prevent Western Power Distribution from obtaining planning permission to build a housing development on Llanishen reservoir. The reservoir was temporarily drained for an engineer's inspection in 2010, but has never been refilled. This brought to an end a Council run sailing school on the reservoir where many children learned to sail, and many of whom went on to join the Welsh national sailing squad. The Welsh Government recently refused Western Power's application for planning permission, and this petition urges Cardiff Council to take all the necessary steps to ensure that the reservoir is now refilled as soon as possible.
