Hey friends, a group of us met with our Congressman's immigration liaison and staff last week. In the middle of the meeting, Rocio happened to call one of the members of our group and was able to speak directly to the staff—it was amazing. We could see how they were really listening and being affected by hearing from her directly.
There's a process to them helping (+ we've begun engaging with the Congressional office in AZ whose district houses the ICE detention center that Rocio is in). It includes a fair amount of hoop-jumping. The fact that there's a group of us advocating for Rocio and only able to inch things along is heartbreaking because we know that so many have fewer folks in their corner.
So we're going to fight like hell, and we need your help.
Your support on this petition was helpful, as we were able to show the growing support Rocio has. We now need to raise funds for her lawyer's retainer to cover the next phase of her asylum case. We raised the first retainer among our small desert community; now we'd love your help.
