With primary schools beginning to open in England from today despite concerns from teachers, unions and the British Medical Association, mental health support has never been more important. A great many children are returning feeling scared and anxious to vastly different school environments with an unfamiliar routine.

Meanwhile for young people in Scotland, Wales and Northern Island there are still many questions about how and when a return to school will take place for them. No doubt across the UK this is having a major impact on the mental health of families in what is already an incredibly difficult time.

Whilst there are of course limitations to what campaigning can be done at this time I will continue to push for the Mental Health Education coming to England and Wales to be expanded to all UK schools. So please do continue to share the petition.

Meanwhile to provide a resource for families concerned about safety for their children I was delighted to interview fellow campaigner and educator Natasha Devon MBE. I’ve included a preview of that conversation above and you can catch the full interview on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify or via our website.

Do let me know in the comments below how you’re feeling about schools reopening and lockdown measures being lifted in general ?

Many thanks, Bobby Temps
