Thank you so much to all 27K+ of you who have signed the petition. Thanks to your action, the mainstream media has picked up on this story and is starting to report on it broadly. This morning, both the Today Show and Good Morning America ran pieces. We are expecting to see more coverage through the coming days, and are encouraged that news outlets are finally reporting on this news.
There is still work to do. As we approach Lunar New Year, we are seeing brands and companies run promotions and campaigns to 'celebrate the New Year.' We are not opposed to this, but we strongly believe that those who stand to profit from these campaigns should also acknowledge the violence being committed against our community, the trauma that many of us are feeling, and take ACTION. PLEASE use your voices, your social media, your power that you have demonstrated in getting the media to pay attention to us, to remind these brands to look that we are not just a holiday, and we are not just here for them to check off their DEI marketing initiatives.
Finally, last night it was brought to our attention that donations made via our petition are used to boost our petition within change.org's systems, and not donations to any particular charity. We shared that message as soon as we became aware, but flagging that here too. We want to be transparent about where your donations are going.
