Representative Timothy Reeder, MD, has responded

On May 18th, 2026, North Carolina representative for district 9, Timothy Reeder, MD, responded to our email. In his response, he states, "... insurance coverage is a key for access to healthcare services. United has not been a good partner in the contract dispute between ECU and the company. I am hopeful that the negotiations will work out and patients will have access." This is a very promising response, as now we know that some in the North Carolina General Assembly are aware of the decision UnitedHealthcare has made and its implications on healthcare access in eastern North Carolina.
