Hello fellow deFlockers!

We hope you're ready to make sure the Flock roundtable discussion is well attended by concerned community members of 29 Palms and the surrounding Morongo Basin this Thursday, July 9.

This is a key moment to show our elected officials that our community will not stand by while our privacy is invaded by Flock's cameras.

A few updates to the roundtable discussion:

New location: Luckie Park Activity Center, 74325 Joe Davis Dr, 29 Palms, CA

Extended time: 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Guests: Mayor Pro Tem Octavious Scott has invited representatives from Flock Safety and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office to answer questions.

As promised, here are some talking points you can use at the roundtable discussion. Choose one or two that you care about the most, and make sure to personalize your comment to make a strong impact.

Remember that to win, we need to connect with the widest audience possible. It's not just the 29 Palms City Council we need to convince -- it's just as important that our neighbors understand the risks of Flock, or any company's mass surveillance systems, monitoring our community.

Check out this page where we debunk several Flock myths such as "Cell phones already track your location. This is no different."

You don't need to be an expert on the issue for your opinion to matter. This is our community -- let's make sure 29 Palms leaders represent our concerns!

While no decisions will be made at the roundtable discussion, community participation at this event will send a clear message to the 29 Palms City Council that they should vote to cancel the city's contract with Flock when that time comes (stay tuned for an announcement when that meeting is scheduled). If we wait to show up until the vote is scheduled at City Council, it will be too late, they will have already made up their minds.

With local elections coming up in November, this is a great opportunity to influence the platforms of the three city council members whose seats are up for election, including Mayor Pro Tem Octavious Scott. Interested in running for city council? We'd love to support you. Get in touch with us at hello@deflock29.org.

Please join the roundtable even if you're not sure what to say or if you're uncomfortable speaking. We will have buttons you can wear as well as small signs you can hold during the roundtable -- or make your own homemade sign.

And don't forget to invite your friends. Imagine what the room will feel like if we each bring five friends with us.

Let's do this!

The DeFlock29 committee

P.S. Yucca Valley Town Council, take notice -- No mass surveillance anywhere in the Morongo Basin!
