Dear Friends,

As you know, a terrible tragedy has occurred at Tbilisi Zoo on June 13th.

Heavy rains caused rising of the nearby river and a subsequent burst of adjacent water pipes, which resulted in a devastating flood of the zoo. More than half of the animals perished in the flood, along with several zookeepers and staff members. Needless to say, these are incredibly tense, difficult and sorrowful times for the employees and surviving inhabitants of the zoo, manager Mr. Zurab Gurielidze, and for many Georgians in general.

We kindly ask you to sign this petition and express moral support and solidarity for Mr. Gurielidze and the management of the zoo in these tragic times, encouraging them as they begin reconstruction and continue to care for the surviving animals and employees.
