The Sidney Lanier Bridge has been the gateway to numerous suicide attempts and successes. Placing a barrier, as many tall bridges have done accross the USA, would help in the prevention of suicide by jumping. The barriers would also double as a safety measure against accidental falls from pedestrians. Operation Catch Me When I Fall would also like to see signs posted that would include a phone number to a suicide hotline, and words of encouragement, accompanied by a landline phone for those without cellular devices. Let's raise awareness, offer a means to alert, and build a barrier of protection.
