HAPPY NEW YEAR all 280,166 of you!!!! 2015 was a great year of protest. Thank you for sharing it with us! We managed to axe sanitary tax in Canada, see its reduction in France from 22% to 5.5%, and pressure George Osborne into committing to end sanitary tax here in the UK, too. Every signature, protest and campaigner made these changes happen. Kudos to you all!! To help us celebrate, the Independent has made us one of their top global change makers of 2015! Let's make 2016 the year that sanitary tax ends. Period. In the meantime we will continue to change the world, one tampon at a time... How can tampons be taxed as 'luxury' items when bingo, maintaining private helicopters and eating edible jelly flowers have all been deemed 'essential' enough to escape tax altogether?
