---- WE HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! URGENT CALL FOR EUROPEAN ACTION ---- The UK can’t scrap sanitary tax alone. We have to take our fight to the EU so that BILLIONS can benefit and there is now a chance for us to win! A European Justice Commission consultation on gender equality will be published IN 7 DAYS TIME on the 27th JULY 2015. Before then, we need to make sure they talk about us!! So, how can we do this? There are two CRUCIAL steps that we ALL need to take: 1) A questionnaire is featured in the consultation (see below) within which there is an ‘any other comments’ section. PLEASE FILL THIS IN by explaining that: ‘Scrapping sanitary tax will not only promote a clearer picture of a forward thinking Union, within which women are no longer alienated, but it will also widen the accessibility of a vital health product, break down the added cost of menstruating and challenge the marginalisation of issues traditionally associated with women. Europe needs to scrap sanitary tax. Period.’ 2) Email your Members of the European Parliament (MEPs)! You can contact your MEP by typing your postcode into this website: https://www.writetothem.com/. Make sure they know about the consultation and that they need to make as much noise as we are! A template email has been copied below – feel free to use it! We would love to hear how your MEPs respond! THANK YOU ALL for your continued support!!! We will make this change happen, together! Laura ☺ Dear ______, I am a supporter of a European-wide campaign against gendered taxation and more specifically, against the implementation of sanitary tax, which stands at 5% here in the UK but rises to 27% in countries such as Hungary. I am contacting you regarding the 'equality between women and men in the EU' consultation, which will be published on the 27th July. We have emailed the Directorate-General Justice and Consumers, Gender Equality Unit to make sure that sanitary tax is featured in the consultation, however if it is not, I wondered if you would be willing to amend the document to make sure our voices are heard? Yours sincerely, ____________________
