We’re updating you at the most critical point so far in the campaign!
A review of decapod sentience commissioned by Defra is currently underway. We were hoping we would already have the outcome of this report, unfortunately it has not yet been published. However, in the meantime, there’s a new raft of animal welfare legislation on the horizon.
If this collection of legislation includes the Sentience Bill, then there is a risk that, without the report, decapod crustaceans will not be included in the bill. This bill will determine which animals are considered sentient, and therefore protected by law, so it is crucial that decapod crustaceans are included.
If not, millions of animals will continue to suffer.
WE NEED YOU
How can you help? We need you to write to your MP using the template provided telling them that decapods must be included in the Sentience Bill. It only takes a few minutes and could change animal welfare history. We cannot miss this opportunity.
Thank you for helping decapods!
