Dear Mr. Andrew J. Farah, Volt Chief Engineer,  (Version française ci-dessous)

We would like to inform you that the people who signed this online petition wish that the "Engine Running Due To Temperature" on the Volt be reconfigured to an optional feature.

We understand that a change has been made in the past to offer two settings (cold temperature and very cold temperature), but even with the later option, ERDTT will start very often in winter (almost daily) for your Northern clients (Northern USA and Canada).  Considering that this function primarily serves the purpose of enhancing the cabin's comfort and temperature (this information comes from a recent interview you gave at the Detroit auto show), we believe that it would make sense that it should be the driver's decision whether he wants to improve the cabin heat by using the ERDTT or not.

Forcing the engine to run at -10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit) doesn't please everyone.  It would be very simple, during a program update, to add an option to disengage the automatic ERDTT, making the owner of the Volt decide on the activation of this feature or not.

Thank you in advance for considering making this change in an upcoming software update of the Volt.

Nous voudrions vous informer que les gens qui ont signé cette pétition en ligne aimeraient que le "moteur fonctionne en raison de la température" (ERDTT) soit reconfigurée pour être une fonction optionnelle.

Nous comprenons qu'un changement a déjà été apporté dans le passé permettant de configurer le mode température froide à température très froide, mais même lorsque la 2e option est choisie, le "ERDTT" démarrera souvent (presque quotidennement) pour vos clients qui habitent dans le Nord (Nord des États-Unis et Canada).  En considérant que cette fonction sert essentiellement à rehausser le niveau de confort de l'habitacle (cette information vient d'une entrevue que vous avez récemment donnée au salon de l'auto de Détroit), nous croyons qu'il serait logique que le conducteur ait le choix d'utiliser ou non la fonction qui fait démarrer le moteur thermique.

Forcer l'utlisation du moteur thermique à partir de -10 degrés Celsius ne plaît pas à tous.  Il serait facile, lors d'une mise à jour logicielle, d'ajouter une fonction permettant de désengager le ERDTT et laisser le choix au propriétaire de la Volt d'utiliser cette option ou non.
