Long ago before Mount Panorama was named Mount Panorama, it was known by its traditional Aboriginal name,Wahluu, meaning "to watch over", It has been clarified that the co-naming will not change anything regarding what tourist books, signage etc say. The co-naming is about perserving the traditional Aboriginal language and names. It is about acknowledgment, it is about history. Most people would have been unaware of the traditional name before the proposal, and petition against the co-naming is in effect about petitioning against a change that wont change anything ie. a petition about nothing.
