PETITION TO KEEP THE RED ARROWS IN LINCOLNSHIRE
0 have signed. Let’s get to 5,000!
This year we celebrate 100 years of the Royal Air Force. It is also 100 years since Air Station Brattleby Cliff was renamed RAF Scampton, and since then it has played a vital role in the defence of our country.
The airbase is central to Lincolnshire’s past and present identity. In WWII the airfield was home to the legendary Dambusters, and since 2000 it has housed the world-renowned Red Arrows.
RAF Scampton is also the headquarters of 1 Air Control Centre, which protects the UK’s airspace from hostile aircraft.
Lincoln, Lincolnshire and the UK are indebted to the men and women who have served and continue to serve there.
We, the undersigned, call upon the UK Ministry of Defence to review its decision to close RAF Scampton;
- Keep the Red Arrows in Lincolnshire;
- Make public the rationale for the decision and the impact the closure will have on the UK’s defences;
- Undertake a thorough consultation with all local and national stakeholders;
- And undertake a full impact assessment of the effect the closure will have on the local economy and workers.
