Gov. Gavin Newson announced another $286 billion budget proposal for 2022 budget year, which does not include any Golden State Stimulus money, but possible tax rebates. Still nothing for low-income residents, (SSDI) Social Security Disability Insurance, and (SSA) Social Security Admin., recipients which includes (SSI), (SSP), and VA Disability recipients. California has another $286 Billion in surplus money again this year, Not $31 Billion that was previously reported for 2022, but still no mention of any of that money going to help all low-income residents and those who do not pay California State or Federal Taxes.
California had a $76 billion dollar surplus in 2021, thanks to taxes paid by Californians who benefited the most during the 2020 pandemic, and now has another $286 billion in 2022 reported by KTLA, thanks to California's tax paying residents in 2021.
The cost of living continues to rise and the 5.9% COLA raise for 2022 is simply not enough. Rent, food, utilities, insurance, medical expenses, etc., have all tripled.
