Repeal Gatlinburg Resolution No 939 meant to silence Wildfire Survivors

The Issue

Resolution No 939 takes away our First Amendment  right to Freedom of Speech. We are entitled to our Point of View time at the pidium of city council meetings.

This is the only way we can get the answers we need to.make Gatlinburg Safe.

Conveniently just days before we learned the gag order did not include officials (who have been saying they could not give us any information regarding the Wildfires that killed our friends and destroyed our homes) they passed this resolution to limit the types of questions we could ask.

Mayor Mike Werner can deem any question, disrespectful, that criticizes the city officials and have us removed from meetings under this new amendment

Our city just experienced the biggest devastation in the history of the State of Tennessee. We deserve to speak freely to get answers on safety, accountability and actions taken the days leading up to the Gatlinburg Wildfire and the efforts to rebuild.

Resolution No 939 should not have been passed without any discussion.  The timing of such an amendment just as the city learned there was no gag order is very suspicious.

Please help us ensure changes are made to keep.residents and visitors to Gatlinburg safe.  We never want anyone to experience the horror we did escaping Gatlinburg on November 28, 2016

Thank you,

Gatlinburg Wildfire Survivors
