Remove the speed bumps from Rowlands Gill

The Issue

In late 2018 / early 2019 a new road safety scheme was introduced in Rowlands Gill & Highfield.

Part of this road safety scheme has included the installation of a number of a number of "speed cushions" on locations including Burnopfield Road, The Grove, Stirling Lane and Strathmore Road / B6315.

The amount of "speed cushions" installed is completely disproportionate to the perceived problem.

From publically viewable road traffic collision data* during the course of the last 5 years, there has been one slight RTC on the junction of A694 and The Grove and one slight RTC on the B6315.

To put that into context, there is one slight RTC every 912 days and many of the roads with "speed cushions" have no reported RTCs. There are no serious or fatal RTCs on any road where "speed cushions" have been installed as part of this road safety scheme. The only serious RTC within Rowlands Gill in the last 5 years is at the junction at Maguires with the A694 where there are no "speed cushions" and no traffic lights!

Residents of Rowlands Gill, those commuting through the village and thouse using it's commercial outlets have made it clear that the village is not only spoiled by the "speed cushions" but that many motorists are suffering excessive wear, tear and damage to their vehicles having as a result.
