SAVE THE DATE! Because of your honest comments/requests concerning Piedmont LIthium's Mining Permit application, State mining officials will hold an in-person public hearing from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, in the commissioner's room on the second floor of the Gaston County Courthouse, 325 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
An information session, where state mining staff will be available to explain the state’s application process and considerations, will take place from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. on the same date with the public hearing beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the same location. We need EVERYONE to arrive early and wear RED to visually show your opposition. Many of you came prepared to speak your concerns previously and it was very impactful for the County Commissioners to hear directly from their citizens that would be impacted. Now the State Mining Commission needs to hear the same. We need you to come make a short statement to voice your concerns about impacts to your drinking wells, springs, ponds, and creeks, your clean air and quality of life, the environmental impact (not if but when), your health concerns, and the greater impact to farm animals and wildlife in Gaston County. This is our opportunity to voice our honest concerns about a proposed 1,500 acre 500' deep strip mine in our backyards in beautiful NW Gaston County. Please plan to attend and follow us on Facebook at StopPiedmontLithium. #gastongazette #Gaston
