SITLA is an administrative board whose board members are assigned by the governor to serve a 6 year term.

They have no one to be held accountable to. This is unacceptable and has led to decades of shady deals that do not represent the best interests of Utah citizens.

It is time that we demand this antiquated process be turned over to the people. Utah lands are not increasing and by continually selling the lands off to private interests we lose more land each time they do.

In addition this state agency if selling the lands back to Utah is simply shifting tax payers money from one agency to another and we the people have the right to be involved in determining where our taxes go as well as if we receive new tax money through the sell of lands to private entities. We can not allow this to go on unchecked as if we lived in the days of those who followed Manifest Destiny.  The outcome of that ideology was disasterous.

If Utah continues  unchecked selling lands to private entities we will continue to see the fruits of that incredibly destructive ideology. There needs to be a check in place that is transparent to the people, and the people need to be a part of that check. Or else it is a taxation without representation. And we in a land of liberty can not have that.
