Replace or Fix Faulty Garmin Mount on Cycling Computers
The Issue
I just got off the phone with Garmin and they told me they're not aware of any issues with the mounting tabs on their Garmin cycling computers. I told the representative that they should perform a Google search for "broken garmin mount" and they'll see 376,000 results for this issue. One of the top results is for a company called Dog Ears that is offering a fix for this problem. Many of the other posts are people suffering the same fate, the mounts on their Garmin cycling computer broke. Many other posts are about people providing methods of fixing the broken mounting tabs. All of these posts and solutions posted for a problem that doesn't exist according to Garmin.
First, I want Garmin to acknowledge the plastic mounting mechanism on Garmin computers are faulty and not designed and engineered to function properly under normal use.
Secondly, I would like for Garmin to recall and replace all of the faulty designed Garmin Mounts or provide a 3rd party solution like Dog Ears free of charge to all existing customers so we can continue to use our Garmin cycling computers without risk of them falling off and breaking!
Forums @ Garmin - The first post was made in 2010. 15 pages of posts on Garmin's forum talking about this exact problem yet Garmin does not think it exists!
Meanwhile, here's some solutions for a problem that doesn't exist:
RaceWare - Nice plastic solution to the Garmin Mount Problem
DogEars - Nice CNC aluminum solution - Works for me.
DIY Fix - fix your broken mount with some epoxy
G-Savr - tether in case your mounts fail. Why would you need this?
