Keep Our Library event at the Erie Maennerchor Plaza
The warmth of Erie’s Maennerchor Club was a welcome change of pace for protestors who had been fighting Erie County and Gannon University’s lease that would see some 3,000 square feet in the Blasco Public Library become a university water testing center.
“I think we had the idea to come together to show what a large, unified group we are. We’re not just three or four people standing on the street corner with a sign. We are a whole lot of motivated people who believe in the public library system and that it belongs to all of us,” said Kathy Lutz of Keep our Library Public.

Meanwhile, the county executive administration declined to comment.
NOTE: we don't know the exact count because as we were having people sign in, the line got so long it went down the stairs and around the corner and the length of the building all the way to the parking lot entrance on the first floor. And not everyone came at 6 PM. Many more came later. A good estimate is that more than 200 people attended the event.
