We are not against Bio Gas production but Gort is the wrong location.

The site of the proposed Bio Gas plant on Gort’s Golden Mile, Kinincha road, is less than 1km from Market Square.

There are serious health/safety issues: proximity to homes and the river, air/noise/water pollution, there is no fulltime fire service, quantity of gas and slurry stored/processed on site. Increase risk of accidents.

It will have a negative impact on Gort/Heritage Town/Gateway to the Burren with 50 + slurry/gas HGV’s through Gort daily.

 Also, on our Natural environment, landscape and biodiversity. 

It would be harder to attract new business to our town.

There are 142 Submissions/Objections to the planning application from the Public, TII, EPA, DCHG, An Taisce and NUI Galway.

Galway CoCo Planning Dept. have postponed their decision and requested extensive further information, with decision due in December.
