Hey folks!
I’m Isaiah, the guy who put together this payment strike. I'm writing you today to tell you I'm putting this campaign on pause. I started this petition because I felt there were no other options - I'm excited to announce there is now a campaign we can all get behind. As I began to network and grow this payment strike, I met activists, engineers, and experts who've been working on a solution for years. Their work has culminated in the campaign called Power San Diego.
It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me because I have been busy volunteering with this grassroots campaign. This is our best chance in years to truly FIRE SDGE. Power San Diego has a plan to terminate our contract with SDGE and replace it with a not-for-profit publicly-owned utility. Many publicly-owned utilities across the state enjoy significantly lower rates and higher customer satisfaction; examples include LA and Sacramento! Feasibility studies project that we would see 20% in savings on our rates by switching from SDGE to a publicly owned utility model.
I strongly recommend that the folks here check it out at wearepowersandiego.com and commit to signing the initiative; we need 120,000 signatures from voters in the City of San Diego to get on the ballot. It’s a grassroots effort, with no deep pockets - we need signers and volunteers to get this done - if you care deeply about stopping SDGE, then please visit our website and JOIN US!
Come meet me in person at the Little Italy Farmers market every Saturday 8 am-2 pm by the fountain, I'll be there getting signatures for Power San Diego!
