Dear Supporters,

I am excited to share some fantastic news! Today, I had a successful meeting with Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula, and I’m thrilled to let you know that he is all in as an ally. He affirmed that we are on the right track, and he is fully supportive of exploring community ownership models. This is a major victory for us, and it’s all thanks to the collective effort and passion you’ve shown by signing and promoting our petition!

What’s Next?

We’ve accomplished our first goal of getting our lawmaker to hear our stories and join us in finding real solutions, but we’re just getting started. I’m excited to announce that our next step is a Town Hall Meeting on October 17th where we’ll bring together developers, small business owners, legacy landowners, residents, and lawmakers. This is going to be a pivotal conversation about how we can work collectively to:

Understand the challenges small businesses face, especially as property values rise and displacement threatens their survival.

Create solutions for displacement avoidance and sustainable development that will empower our communities.

Engage lawmakers in brainstorming actionable solutions that foster community-driven development and protect local ownership.

Appeal to current real estate owners to become part of the solution by participating in these models and creating more opportunities for small businesses.

We’re calling this town hall an opportunity to build bridges and ensure everyone has a seat at the table as we work toward a level playing field for the future of our neighborhoods.

Stay Engaged

Thank you again for being part of this movement. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we’re counting on your continued support as we move forward. I’ll keep you updated on the details of the town hall and next steps as we work together to create a better future for our communities.

Together, we’re making real change happen!

Warm regards,

Lynisha Senegal
