Since this petition was written the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has worsened and the US government continues to be complicit. Instead of calling for a full ceasefire, there is a proposed allocation of over 14 billion dollars to support the state of Israel in the continued destruction of Gaza.

While most of US elected officials have continued to support what is happening in the Middle East, the people of the US have made it clear they are overwhelmingly in support of a ceasefire. Over 60% of the US population and over 80% of democrats, that voted in Joe Biden, are in support of a ceasefire.

Over 10,000 have been killed, over 4,000 are children.

Over 24,000 injured and over 2000 missing.

Over 1 million people displaced, with all shelters in the south of Gaza at over 4 times capacity. There is not a safe place to be in Gaza.

No gas has been allowed in. Most medicine is not allowed in. Generators and solar cells (panels) have been targeted. Less than 10% of the normal number of trucks have been allowed in, and limited-to-no water, food, and electricity.

Targeting of hospitals, ambulances and medical workers continues. Targeting of civilians including refugee camps, schools used as shelters and the outskirts of hospitals used as shelters continues.

As healthcare professionals witnessing this historical, unprecedented man-made humanitarian crisis take place, we demand of our elected officials:

·       An immediate and total ceasefire – not just a pause

·       No additional US funding to the state of Israel to continue this humanitarian crisis

·       Expanded access to the Rafah border crossing; allow the crossing of all available humanitarian aid in and the exit for all those that need or wish to leave – including patients in need of additional care, and much needed fuel and medicine (this does not include the forced evacuation of Palestinians into Egypt)

·       Address the root causes that have resulted in the need for continued Palestinian resistance
