Good morning neighbors and friends, please see the attached nformation from the Project Manager Anne Welch as a image file and the transcript from her email below.   Please let voice your opinions and concerns be heard, by attending and/or filling out the survey.  Once protected bike lanes are installed they are costly, not easy to remove, have caused major congestion, and loss of parking.

"Hello Community Members and Interested Stakeholders,
Due to the forecasted snow and icy roadway conditions this coming Saturday, the District Department of Transportation is rescheduling the Taylor Street Existing Conditions Open House until Saturday, February 1.  Please see the updated information below.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host an open house on February 1, 2025 from 11am to 1pm at the Woodridge Neighborhood Library to solicit public feedback about transportation needs and existing conditions along Taylor Street NE from North Capitol Street to South Dakota Avenue NE. The input provided will help to inform the development of a preferred conceptual design of a protected bikeway that will improve safety and operations along Taylor Street NE.

DDOT is currently conducting a traffic analysis for the corridor, while continuing to meet with stakeholders. As DDOT works to wrap up the "Existing Conditions / Needs Assessment" phase of this project, we are hosting this Open House event to share what we have heard so far and invite the community to provide final input on the existing conditions along Taylor Street NE. DDOT will use this stakeholder and community feedback to develop concepts for a protected bike lane along the corridor, along with the ongoing traffic analysis.

WHAT: Taylor Street Protected Bikeway – Existing Conditions Open House
WHEN and WHERE: Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Woodridge Neighborhood Library (1801 Hamlin St NE)
TIME: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (this is an open house, stop by at any time within this timeframe)
To Participate in the Meeting: Come to the Woodridge Neighborhood Library anytime between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to learn more about the bikeways program and the Taylor Street NE protected bikeway project.  Provide input to DDOT staff about your challenges walking, taking transit, biking, and/or driving along Taylor Street NE. Your input will inform a preferred conceptual design for a protected bikeway that improves service and safety on Taylor Street NE.

Can't Make the Meeting?  On the project website, we have provided two online surveys for those who are not able to attend the meeting in person.  Fill out the text based survey to provide feedback about your transportation needs and the existing conditions along the Taylor Street corridor, and use the map based survey to add comments at specific locations along the corridor.
