Kellock Lodge is an Aged Care facility in Alexandra, Victoria. Anglican Bishop, John Parkes, wants to merge Kellock Lodge with St John's Village Wangaratta, another aged care facility under his power. Kellock Lodge was established on land donated by the Kellock Family and has been built and funded by the local community to the tune of around $14 million dollars. They have never received a cent from the church. Kellock is well managed. It has a good record of resident care, where everyone is treated like an extended family. It is in a strong financial position. St John's Village has had serious issues with resident care and is in a very questionable financial position. Merging of Kellock Lodge, and having it controlled from Wangaratta, would remove the friendly, local aspect Alexandra is rightly proud of. At a time when the Anglican Church, as reported in the Weekend Australian, 7th-8th July has flagged the sale of assets to cover the cost of redressing the wrongs against past child sex abuse victims, this is extremely concerning for the future of Kellock Lodge, the residents and the Alexandra community.
