Good morning,
Today’s update is about the hope that adults do what is right for kids. I want to believe that FUSD elected officials and employees care about the kids they serve. I want to believe they made the choice to affiliate with FUSD because they want to enable meaningful experiences for the student population they serve. I want to believe the ego and power is not the reason this situation has gone without appropriate corrective action.
The previous updates have shared much of the very public incidents that have transpired the last few years. Some incidents are so egregious, they are hard to believe. Unfortunately all mentioned incidents have been verified by multiple sources. It’s concerning that this is the public part, what about the incidents that are not public??
Today the FHS aquatics program lacks or doesn’t have -
- No tournaments - home or away.
- No team bonding.
- No fundraisers.
- No homework support.
- Real offseason opportunities that will NOT disqualify them from their regular season of swim and/or water polo.
- Not enough girls for a complete team.
- Both head coaches are checked out and just seem to be there to collect a check.
The HOLISTIC program that Coach Lopez provided was a real experience for kids in every way. Both home and away tournaments, team bonding, fundraising, morning practice, and offseason opportunities at every break. I want my son to have this experience and the expectations that come with being on a real team. I want to believe that it will be made right for my son and his schoolmates.
Thank you,
Cresta
PS - Today the effort to bring back this holistic program is in the news.
