Native American heritage has been abused and neglected. In response, there has been a movement to remedy this, which involves removing names and images that are insulting and derogatory. Locally, this has included rebranding the mascot at Fresno High School and an attempt to rename a local town. This panel will discuss the ethical issues involved in the effort to “Rename S**** Valley.”

Professor Leece Lee-Oliver • American Indian Studies
