In the latest outrage, the Karnataka Police took activist and poet Varavara Rao into custody last Wednesday. In coordination with the Centre, they are working to frame him for an alleged Maoist attack in 2005. This is just another example of the rising tide of fascism in India. As if framing V.V. and others in the outrageous Bhima Koregaon case was not bad enough, now the Indian state is attempting to frame the 80 year old poet on other charges as well. At a time when lynchings, pogroms, and attacks on democratic rights are on the rise across the board, it is imperative that the people of India and around the world fight back against the rising tide of fascism.
