Dear friends,

We would like to let you know that Munther was released from prison last Friday night, without prior notice. It is a relief that, after more than 2,5 months in prison, he has finally been reunited with his family.

Upon his release, Munther spoke about the horrendous situation in prison. 'It was hell', Munther commented on prison conditions, 'not even animals can live like this'. The food he and his eleven cellmates received was enough to feed only two people, there was no warm water, and nothing to help pass the long days. Prisoners receive no news from outside, and have no information on why they have been imprisoned and for how long. On several occasions, guards entered their cells with dogs. One young man tried to commit suicide due to the hopelessness of the situation. 'They oppressed and humiliated us, and buried any hope for life', Munther said.

After his release, Munther was brought to the hospital for a health check. His health has suffered due to the conditions in prison: He lost approximately 30 kg, and his medical condition has deteriorated since he received his medication, which he is supposed to take three times daily, maximum once a day.

Thank you all for your support and contribution to freeing Munther. Please keep advocating and praying for the release of thousands of Palestinians who remain in prison without charges or trial, especially Munther's colleague and friend Anas Abu Srour, who has been imprisoned since 28 November 2023.
