For the first time in around three months, I was able to speak properly with Mum. The call lasted just 12 minutes and had an interpreter present, so it was monitored and there was nowhere near enough time for us to say everything we wanted to say to each other. Even so, those 12 minutes mattered enormously after such a long period without proper contact. Mum told me that both she and Craig have lost a significant amount of weight following their hunger strikes and are now slowly rebuilding their strength. There were clearly some very difficult periods along the way, but what came through strongly was how mentally resilient they both remain. They continue to believe that this situation is temporary and that they will come home. Those 12 minutes also gave me the chance to tell Mum that nothing has stopped here. The campaign is still moving, people are still speaking their names, still signing the petition, still sharing their story and still pushing for progress. We are now getting very close to 100,000 signatures, which is an extraordinary level of support and something we are incredibly grateful for. We are hopeful that this call will now become a weekly occurrence. Regular contact would make a meaningful difference to the family and would give us a better sense of how Mum and Craig are doing, but it does not change the wider concerns we still have. The British Embassy is now back in Iran, and we are still waiting for confirmation that British officials have visited Mum and Craig. Given the length of their hunger strikes, the weight they have lost and the concerns that have been raised about their health, we believe they urgently need to be seen in person and properly medically assessed. We are also continuing to push for a meeting with Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband. More than 18 months into their detention, we want meaningful engagement at the highest level and a clear understanding of what options are being pursued to secure their release. There have been some positive developments recently. Mum and Craig have ended their hunger strikes, they are beginning to rebuild their health, communication appears to be improving and the Embassy has returned to Iran. We welcome all of those things. But 12 minutes with my mum was also a reminder of just how much remains unresolved. It was good to hear her voice, good to know that they both remain mentally strong, and good to be able to tell her that people have not forgotten them. But they are still detained, their health still needs proper attention and there is still a great deal of work to be done. So we keep going. The support remains hugely important, particularly as we continue pushing towards 100,000 signatures. For now, I am grateful for those 12 minutes. The next thing we need is action. We will keep working, keep asking the difficult questions and keep pushing for every available avenue to be explored until Mum and Craig are home.
