Petition updateFree Lindsay and Craig ForemanConcern Grows for Lindsay and Craig as Family Contact is Withdrawn
Free Lindsay and CraigFolkstone, United Kingdom
May 13, 2026

Last week, Lindsay and Craig’s phone access, their only means of contact with the outside world, was cut off, reportedly in response to a media interview they had given. They had spoken out, because they felt abandoned with no other way to make their voices heard. Their interview followed a deeply alarming call between Lindsay and Ambassador Hugo Shorter who indicated there was effectively no clear channel currently available to engage on securing their release, despite France recently succeeding in bringing home its own detained citizens.

We were informed that in addition to having their phone cards confiscated, both Lindsay and Craig could be placed in solitary confinement and they would be barred from seeing each other. Before communication was cut off, Craig had warned that if family phone calls were prevented, he and Lindsay would begin a hunger strike and we presume that this is what is now happening.

This is not the first time Craig and Lindsay have taken such a step in what they see as their last ditch attempt at being heard. In November 2025, they began a hunger strike to draw attention to their plight, ending it only when they received written assurances that they would be allowed to see each other and contact their family. Those assurances have now been broken.

This is yet another blow to the family in this terrible saga of two innocent tourists caught up in a nightmare. As Joe said;

"My mum and Craig are innocent. That is not a contested point; the government itself has said so. If they are innocent, they should not be in Prison and their family should not be left in silence, not knowing if they are alive and safe. We are asking the Foreign Secretary to personally intervene, to use every channel available and treat this as the emergency it is. France found a way to bring its citizens home from Iran. We need to know why Britain cannot even find out what is happening to two of its own citizens."

The family is calling on Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper to:

  • Immediately seek a welfare check on Lindsay and Craig Foreman
  • Urgently raise with Iranian authorities the restoration of telephone contact with their family and visiting rights between the couple
  • Explain what concrete strategy exists to secure their release.

The UK government has stated that Lindsay and Craig Foreman are innocent. We say that position now carries an unavoidable responsibility to act.

Please join us in asking all your friends and family to sign the petition urgently. Lindsay and Craig’s family will be delivering it to 10 Downing St on Wednesday next week following a motorbike ride out to Parliament as a demonstration of your support. Thank you also for your donations which enable us to undertake such events.

From the family and friends of Lindsay and Craig.
