“A petition is basically a request for action. The right to petition Federal Parliament has been one of the rights of citizens since federation, and it is the only way an individual can directly place grievances before the Parliament.” https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Petitions

This petition has consistently requested freedom for Julian Assange and to Stop the USA Extradition of Julian Assange. This petition is the largest in history to have been tabled in both houses of the Australian Parliament. This petition’s intent is to stop the torturing of and to free Julian Assange. The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture verified that Julian Assange is being subjected to cruel and degrading treatment amounting to a verified case of psychological/mental torture.

Verified cases of “Mental Torture” are classified as a “crime against humanity” by the International Criminal Court (ICC). This is the largest petition in history to have been submitted to the ICC.

Julian Assange is an Australian Citizen, a father, son, husband, brother and is being tortured.

Nick McKim & Peter Whish-Wilson Greens Senators Australian Parliament House Reply (copy and pasted from my email.

Dear Phillip,

Thank you for your email to Senator Peter Whish-Wilson and myself regarding Julian Assange, and for taking action on this issue.

The Australian Greens agree with you – Julian Assange should be freed.

The Greens recognise that the achievement of genuine and lasting peace requires truthful information in the hands of movements, parliamentarians, and people.

The information released by Julian Assange in Wikileaks has been used as evidence in court cases around the globe, freeing prisoners and exposing scandals, torture, murder, and illegal surveillance.

Australia should speak up for the rights of a fellow Australian citizen.

We welcomed the UK High Court decision in late January to allow Julian to appeal his case to the Supreme Court. We congratulate Julian, Stella Morris and the legal team for this result.

But Julian’s road to justice is long, and his prosecution has always been political.

And we need a political response from the Australian Government to ensure that justice can be done.

It is for this reason the Australian Greens have once again called on the Government to urgently speak to the United States government and tell them to drop these absurd charges and end Julian’s ordeal.

You can read the full statement from the Greens’ Foreign Affairs spokesperson - Senator Janet Rice - here.

In Parliament the Greens have also directly questioned the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Marise Payne MP, as to what actions the Government is taking to free Julian Assange and if they will urge the Biden Administration to drop the US case against him. If you would like to watch Senator Rice speak on this issue please click here

Australia must speak up for the rights of one of its citizens.

We, along with many of our Greens colleagues, are proud to be member of Parliamentary Friends of Bring Julian Assange Home Group. Earlier this year several of us recorded a heartfelt message calling on the US to drop the extradition case. To watch this video please click here.

Thank you again for your advocacy, and please be assured that the Greens will continue to advocate for Julian Assange’s freedom.

Warm regards,

Nick and Pete

Dr John Jiggens sent me this after he interviewed John Shipton (Julian Assange's father this week)

Killing Truth:
Julian Assange’s father to speak at Brisbane’s Palm Sunday
Saudi Journalist Jamal Khashoggi was suffocated and dismembered in the Saudi Embassy in Turkey, ambushed while picking up papers for his forthcoming wedding. Australian journalist Julian Assange has been subjected to what Ciaron O’Reilly describes as a slow-motion crucifixion, a death by a thousand court cases.
After more than a decade of confinement, denied even sunlight, Assange’s frail appearance at his wedding shocked his family. He suffered a stroke in October under the pressure of the High Court appeal. A wedding photo was taken on the stipulation that it not be published. As usual, the UK authorities seek to hide the evidence of their crimes.
The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Nils Melzer, described Assange’s persecution/prosecution as ‘legal torture’. The English language version of his book, The trial of Julian Assange, was released in England on February 8, but for reasons unexplained, it won’t be released in Australia till May 31, a date conveniently after the coming Federal election.
Fresh from attending the marriage of his son, Julian Assange’s father, John Shipton, will speak at Brisbane’s Palm Sunday rally in King George Square on April 10 to urge the Australian government to stop the never-ending punishment of Julian Assange.
Julian Assange has been subjected to a “Niagra of malice” by four governments, he told me in our recent interview: “The UK, the US, and Sweden, acting in cahoots with a complicit Australia, are doing their best to destroy Julian Assange.”
If the Prime Minister and the Foreign minister were serious about helping Julian, they would be talking to their US and UK counterparts, advocating strongly for him, and pointing out that he is an Australian citizen, and is not subject to US laws. Instead, they background against him and make empty offers of meaningless ‘consular assistance’.
As John Shipton says, all Scott Morrison has to do is pick up the telephone and talk to Johnson and Biden, but he won’t.
“The Australia government has been flaccid, feeble and acquiescent. Its acquiescence to the mistreatment of Julian Assange, this thirteen-year long persecution of an Australian citizen shows it is complicit,” John Shipton said.
It remains to be seen whether this will change if Labor wins power. In this regard, the party most represented in the Parliamentary Group to Bring Julian Home is the Greens. Labor has two members, equal to the Nationals.
So that is the situation. We have an Australian government, which, like the Saudis, are cool with murdering an Australian journalist who represents the truth.

Ithaka Q + A
On Monday April 11, John Shipton will conduct a Q+A at the Fivestar New Farm cinema after a special preview of Ithaka, a documentary about his long campaign to save his son, Julian Assange. Ithaka will also be shown in Byron shire at the Drill Hall in Mullumbimby on Tuesday April 12.
Produced by Julian’s brother Gabriel Shipton, Ithaka was directed by multi-award-winning director Ben Lawrence. Ben won the Australian Directors Guild Best Director and Australian Writers Guild Best Screenplay awards for his feature film, Hearts and Bones.

Filmed over two years, Ithaka follows John Shipton’s worldwide odyssey to rescue Julian. The yet-to-be-released documentary will be a special thank-you for Julian’s many Queensland supporters.

Stella and Julian’s recent marriage was a rare joyful, yet bitter-sweet occasion for this embattled family, and even this needed to be hard-fought. Permission to marry was requested in 2020, and was granted only after involving lawyers and threatening legal action.

Stella admitted, ‘It’s not the wedding we would have planned.’

‘But we’re choosing to take control of our lives. We’re doing it for love, for each other, for our sons and because Julian’s life has been put on hold for long enough, robbing him of years with his family.’

Belmarsh’s Governor Jenny Louis ordered the couple’s family out of the prison the minute the service was over. Julian was taken back to his cell, knowing he may never get to live with his family. His family departed, knowing they could lose Julian forever to the abyss of the US prison system.

Please come along and support John Shipton and his son Julian Assange!

Julian devised WikiLeaks because he saw our misgovernance was due to the hidden agendas of powerful organisations and their suppression and destruction of whistle-blowers. Unfortunately, as champion of the whistle-blowers, this meant he had to be destroyed so the liars can rule.
