I found this adorable photo from 2019 on my timeline memories. It was a Happy New Year indeed. Having your children and family together with you under one roof is the happiest thing in the world. Now I know that so well not having that fortune this year.
I don't want to delve into self pity. All pity should go toward Joshua. He the one sitting alone in a hospital bed on New Years 2025. He is depending now upon the kindness of strangers and those paid a salary for his care. He had no hugs nor kisses from his parents or family this year.
This is something so senseless. How can healthcare professionals not understand the necessity of love and attention for a person recovering from a major surgery and fighting a brain tumor? They all say there's nothing they can do, their hands are tied. " It's up to DSS" Oh? Well, it was Duke doctors who called in the dss to begin with. Surely they could call them off or at least explain the common sense of a boy having his family next to him as he recovers and heals.
Who is the nameless, faceless DSS? It's a beaurocratic organization full of Program Directors, Supervisors, Social Workers, and numerous associates. They don't even know what they're saying or who they're referring to. With DSS involvement it took 8 people on a zoom call to get consent for an MRI, which previously under parental care would require only 1 person, me, Joshua's mom to give consent. You see, it takes 8x more government intervention to accomplish what 1 mother can accomplish.
Duke and DSS are not helping anyone here, especially Joshua. He's become more withdrawn and sad losing interest in his activities since his family was banished, his cell phone and room phone removed. He's being treated as a prisoner whose only crime was having a brain tumor.
Come now, let us reason together. This can all be stopped and turned around. Doctors, please speak up tell the truth to the DSS social workers and administration. That Joshua needs his mother and family next to him to encourage him and advocate for him and most of all to love him. I implore you stop thus injustice toward my 15 year old son who is innocent of any crime. Stop treating him as a prisoner that you own. He belongs with me and his family. That is God's will and if it's God you trust then please show it Judge Overby, Duke University Hospital, and ACDSS!
