Free Baby Slick: San Diego Artist Facing Serious Jail Time Over a Photo

The Issue

Three days after celebrating the most important milestone of his music career thus far, rising San Diego artist Baby Slick was identified and stopped by local police who then looked through his phone. They found a photo of Baby Slick posing with another artist who grew up in the same neighborhood as him, and promptly took him to jail. There were no gang signs in the photo, no guns, no drugs, nothing -- he was simply standing next to a childhood friend to capture a special moment. Despite there being nothing negative in the photo, local authorities claim it violated the conditions of his probation, and now Baby Slick could be facing serious jail time. We want to give the fans and general public an overview of the meeting where the picture was taken.

Last Wednesday night, Baby Slick and other prominent members of San Diego's music scene met with an executive from Los Angeles at a local studio to discuss new business opportunities that have the potential to not only change the lives of these young men and their families but also the greater San Diego community, as their success would finally create a bridge between the town and the mainstream music industry -- something we've never had.

Being that he was among those top prospects who were called to attend this event, Baby Slick's talent has obviously not gone unnoticed. He has been hard at work making his dream a reality and has kept his nose clean. If you agree that a mere photo taken with another artist from his community should not be the key that locks the door on this young man's freedom and quite possibly his future, please join us in signing this petition to get this unfair violation dismissed.

Thank you.
