We call for the immediate release of Aleema Khan, Imran Khan & all family members and demand transparency, due process, and respect for their fundamental rights.

On September 20, 2026, Aleema Khan, sister of Imran Khan (Pakistan's most popular leader and former Prime Minister) left her Lahore residence to attend to personal matters. She was abducted by police while on her way. Her family was not informed where she had been taken, and her lawyers were initially unable to establish her whereabouts. The family subsequently learned through public reports and social media that she had been detained under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance for 30 days.

The timing of the abduction, one week before PTI's announced September 27 mobilization, makes transparency and due process all the more important.

Whatever the government's stated grounds for this, a person should not disappear into custody without their family and legal representatives being promptly informed of their whereabouts and given meaningful access to them.

Update: Following Aleema Khan’s detention, Imran Khan’s two other sisters, Dr. Uzma Khan and Noreen Khan, along with other members of his family, have also been abducted.

We’re demanding:

• Immediate release of Aleema Khan & family — or subject their detention to full and independent judicial scrutiny.
• Immediate disclosure of their whereabouts and condition to the family and lawyers.
• Immediate and unhindered access to legal counsel and family members.
• Make the detention order and the evidence behind it public.
• Respect due process, the rule of law, and the right to peaceful political expression and assembly.

This isn't just about one person or one family.

It’s about whether fundamental rights actually mean something when the politics get difficult.
